Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before using Connecta.

Welcome to Connecta ("we", "our", or "us"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Connecta mobile application, website, and related services (the "Service"), including messaging, voice calls, video calls, social discovery, matching features, and in-app purchases. By accessing or using Connecta, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use Connecta.
  • By creating an account, you confirm that all information you provide is accurate and truthful.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or remove accounts that violate age requirements or provide false information.

2. Account Registration & Security

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
  • You agree not to share your account with any other person.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access or security breaches.

3. User Profiles & Content

3.1 Profile Information

You may create a profile containing photos, descriptions, preferences, and interests. You agree that:

  • You own or have rights to all content you upload.
  • Your content does not violate any laws or third-party rights.
  • Your profile information is accurate and not misleading.

3.2 User Content Licence

By uploading content to Connecta, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and distribute your content solely for operating and improving the Service.

4. Messaging, Calls & Communication

  • Connecta enables messaging, voice calls, and video calls between users.
  • You agree to use communication features respectfully and lawfully.
  • Harassment, hate speech, explicit content, threats, or abuse are strictly prohibited.
  • We may monitor metadata and investigate reports to maintain platform safety.

5. Matching & Discovery

  • Matches are generated using automated systems based on preferences, location, and activity.
  • We do not guarantee matches, compatibility, or outcomes.
  • You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users.

6. In-App Purchases & Tokens

  • Connecta offers optional in-app token purchases via Google Play Billing.
  • Tokens have no monetary value outside the App and are non-transferable.
  • Purchases are final and non-refundable except where required by law.
  • We may modify token pricing, features, or availability at any time.

7. Safety, Moderation & Enforcement

To keep Connecta safe, you agree that you will not:

  • Impersonate another person.
  • Post illegal, misleading, or harmful content.
  • Attempt to scam or defraud other users.
  • Circumvent security or moderation systems.

We reserve the right to:

  • Review reported content.
  • Suspend or terminate accounts without notice for violations.
  • Cooperate with law enforcement when legally required.

8. Location Services

  • Location is used to show nearby users and improve matching.
  • Location updates occur no more than once every 24 hours.
  • You can disable location access at any time via device settings.

9. Privacy & Data Protection

Your use of Connecta is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your data. By using the Service, you consent to data processing as described in that policy.

10. Account Suspension & Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time through the App.
  • We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or applicable laws.
  • Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately.

11. Disclaimers

  • Connecta is provided on an "as-is" basis.
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.
  • We are not responsible for user conduct or offline interactions.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • Connecta shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us (if any) in the past 12 months.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Connecta from any claims arising out of:

  • Your use of the App.
  • Your content or interactions.
  • Your violation of these Terms.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the App or email. Continued use of Connecta means acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, without regard to conflict of law principles.
